Français QUATRE & AP
Course description
Bienvenue à la classe de
Français// Welcome to French! For many activities in this class, I will speak
very little English American and expect my students to respond in French. This
system allows us to be “immersed” in the French language and culture as much as
possible.
Activities
and instructions will focus on:
*Communication
in French (most of our time will be spent toward this goal)
*Various
aspects of the French Culture( French colonies, Francophone )
*Connections
and comparisons between French language/culture and what you already know or
are learning
*The
usage of French in our community
In our
French class you can expect to:
*Learn
more vocabulary
* Continue to use
the language 100% French first semester/ 100% French second semester (to tell
stories, socialize, exchange information,
express attitudes and opinions, and to express feelings and emotions)
*Continue
to understand the structure of the language (focusing on nouns, adjectives,
verbs, sentence structure and grammar)
Your responsibility:
It is to work hard and participate. Attentive focus each is necessary! Languages are most easily acquired in
regular doses over time, so try to think and study 3 times a day (once in class
for a long time, twice outside of class to review or practice.). Enthusiastic, productive, self-controlled
participation in class activities will be a critical part of your success in
learning French.
My class schedule is designed as
follow:
Monday:
2nd, 4th, 6th period Tutoring:
7:30 am to 8:15 am, lunch
Tuesday:
2nd, 4th, 6th period 7:30
am to 9:15 am, lunch and 1 hour after school
Thursday:
3rd, 5th, 7th period 7:30 am to 9:15 am, lunch and 1 hour after
school
EARNING YOUR GRADE:
GRADING:
Depending on the assignment, points will be earned as follow:
Grading by “standard”: The standard is
the level of work that is acceptable for passing (“C” grade). “Outstanding”
is high above and is “A” quality.
Between and below these levels are the other grades students may earn when quality work is
graded. This generally applies to
participation and project grades.
Grading by “completion on time”: Attempting
and completing work on time is the goal here.
If completed work is turned in late, grade will be lower.
Grading by “points earned”: is is the
traditional grading for tests- each item is worth a point and the number of
items that are correct is the grade.

Attendance & preparation
Regular attendance, daily preparation and
persistent, active participation in class are essential to your success in
learning French. This includes being ON TIME for class. *IF
STUDENT IS TARDY and NOT SEATING,
QUIETLY AND WORKING BY THE 2ND BELL. *
Read new rules in Agenda/ planner pg---
Your teacher will assign specific
exercises to be written out and turned in. You may also expect occasional pop
quizzes to test preparation. If you are unable to be in class, you are
allowed to email your assignment to your instructor prior to the beginning of
the class hour that day. Otherwise, your
assignment will be considered late . When you
are absent or need extra help:
Note: be absent as little as possible.
New material is presented and practiced daily. Students who are
regularly or excessively absent find it very difficult to catch up.
Make –up work: Work you reasonably knew about is due the day you return (assignments that were announced when you were present in class including future assignments on the board). You are given two days for each day of absence to make-up that work assigned while you were gone. Contact me if there are any problems in completing make-up work: https://sites.google.com/site/classedefrancaisn6. Make-up test or quizzes/ extra help: Schedule with me for lunches or before and after school times. I, also, could be reached by email at: aingrao@eduhsd.k12.ca.us or by voice mail at 622-3634 extension 1506, as necessary. https://sites.google.com/site/classedefrancaisn6

Study Partners: Get phone
numbers from other students in class, then call someone when absent or confused
about homework. If possible walk into
class after an absence with that day’s homework attempted or completed. That will allow you to be best prepared to learn
with us after absences.
Students are expected to assist in maintaining a classroom
environment that is conducive to learning. In order to assure that all
students have the opportunity to gain from time spent in class, unless
otherwise approved by the instructor, students are prohibited from engaging in
any form of distraction. Inappropriate behavior (cellular phones, eating
, tardiness, making offensive remarks, sleeping, overt inattentiveness, hats,
clothing, etc.) shall result, minimally, in a request to leave class ). Read
new rules about clothes and electronics in Agenda/planner pg
